Struan H. Coleman, MD

Dr. Struan H. Coleman is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon who specializes in sports medicine, with a specific focus on injuries of the hip, knee and shoulder.

Dr. Coleman has a particular interest in hip arthroscopy and hip preservation surgery and has treated many high-level athletes with hip problems. He currently serves as Director of the Hip Preservation Center at Vincera Institute.

Dr. Coleman earned a medical degree from Columbia College of Physicians and Surgeons and holds a Ph.D in Microbiology from Oxford University. Dr. Coleman completed both his residency in Orthopedic Surgery and a fellowship in Sports Medicine at the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York City. He also is an Assistant Professor of Orthopedic Surgery.

During his fellowship at HSS, Dr. Coleman worked as an assistant physician for the New York Giants. He is the head team physician for the New York Mets.

He has been awarded two United States Patents for devices developed to enhance arthroscopic procedures. Dr. Coleman currently serves as a medical consultant for Pivot, Stryker and Blue Belt Technologies.

Dr. Coleman patented the technology for the CyMedica QB1 Rehabilitation System, which is used to treat quadriceps atrophy.
